Paranormal Activity 2
Hollywood makes some of the best movies and this movie...is just not one of them. It's a nice little experiment gone awfully wrong. It's a piece of dirt in the name of horror films. Will this movie scare you? Yes it will completely scare you! You'll be seeing nightmares of yourself seeing this movie again and again.
Daniel Rey moves to Carlsbad, California with his family. Just a few days in and a break-in! However, nothing seems to missing from the house. To prevent anything like this to happen again, they install DVR cameras all around the house. Daniel fires his toddler's son Hunter's nanny for saying that there's something wrong with house. However, this is a mistake as more creepy and unexplainable events take place. Daniel's daughter Ali finally concludes that the house is haunted by demonic creatures.
The film is directed by Tod Williams (the 1st one was done by a different director), who has done a mediocre job. Not necessarily bad, but, certainly nothing exceptional. Paranormal Activity 2 also sees a change in writers. The writers tried to be creative...ok not really. They stuck to the regular cliched jump scenes. It failed quite badly. The entire screenplay is based on these jump scenes while the actual story takes the backseat.
What's your IQ? 95? 105? 115? Well, even if it is 65, you're a genius compared to IQ 5 of the family in the movie. They set DVR cameras in the house...ok. Why not security alarms? Any motions inside the house and BAM! The authorities would be practically right next door. Ok, let's forget that! If they do have the security cams, why not check them once in a while? They check it what? ONCE? IDIOTS! If they know something weird's happening in the house, revisit the DVR cams. THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE FOR! I mean, you check the DVR cam and you see the dog being dragged around by air or your child flying in air on his own...now, if I saw something like that at my house...I think---I think I would be a BIT worried. Bloody idiots!
What do horror films use to scare the audiences? Dead bodies falling out of closets? Getting punched by an unknown source? A severed leg walking on its own? Well, how about KILLER FRYING PANS! That scene was meant to be scary, but, it was a complete failure and to me, was a comedy scene. They needed better "scaring scenes".
All in all, a movie that's a definite skip. Not even a one time watch. If you ever do go see this movie and you ACTUALLY like it...please come and meet me once. I would like to know what extraterrestrials look like. 1/5

SKYLINE (2010)
Skyline
A brilliant movie! A cinematic breakthrough! These words are NOT to be linked with Skyline as Skyline is not even a good movie...I thought Paranormal Activity 2 was bad, and you're going to be amazingly surprised with the fact that I hated this movie more than Paranormal Activity 2!
Skyline is the story of aliens invading the earth. (I don't want to stretch this plotline OR this review any longer than it should be, so, I'm gonna leave the plot at that.)
The plot of this movie is terrible. Though Paranormal Activity 2 has some extremely idiotic moments, Skyline is full of them! You will barely find any scenes that won't make you yawn. The characters are terrible...no depth at all! For example, when someone in the movie dies, I do not care. Actually, I don't usually know who that character is as this movie's plot is a complete mess, but, I don't want to know either because I don't give a damn! The handling of an already terrible plot makes the movie even worse. The direction is done by (watch out) the Strause brothers, the directors of the movie Aliens vs Predator: Requiem!
Performances...there's nothing much to say about these. They are amazing! They are awesome! Nothing can outdo these! HELL NO! The worst of performances I have seen! Nothing can outdo these performances is a true statement because you cannot possibly have worse performances than this movie.
The only thing that sort of helps this movie is VFX! The Strause brothers always focus a lot on VFX, leaving the plot in the backseat. I have seen better VFX in alien invasion movies before. The movie Independance Day I believe had better VFX than Skyline. Nothing genius in this field either, but, above average I suppose.
Overall, this movie sucks! Don't go see it! If you are going to go see it, I apologize to you in advance. THIS MOVIE, SKYLINE, IS THE WORST MOVIE I'VE SEEN IN AROUND 5 YEARS!!!
